The Ocean and Its Complexities
In the whole world and its creeks and rivers, and different buildings and sights to see, my favourite place to be is where the sand is soft beneath my feet and my hair is falling in messy curls, courtesy of the salty waves.
I love being at the beach almost more than words can describe, but I'm going to try anyway.
The small fish that circle in the shallows as I chase them, pretending I might catch one just with my hands. It's amazing, the feeling of the sun beaming down and giving me new freckles and tan lines as I waste the day away.
Not only is it my favourite place to be, especially when it's with the people I love, but swimming is also my favourite part of summer.
I once described the colour blue to someone using these words.
"It reminds me of the ocean, and the ocean is refreshing and intricate in a nice way"
And it makes me happy.
That resembles what the ocean is to me. Obviously it's refreshing, because it literally has the ability to cool you down in mere seconds on a scorching hot summer day, but it's also deeply complicated in a curiosity provoking sense.
If all you want it to be is just a swim through the shallows, it can be, or you can take a dive into the depths and discover more that it has to offer. Even see some of the scarier parts of it that come with its beauty. But still, there's always going to be some things that are never discovered by the worlds, kept hidden.
It's a bit like a person. You get to decide how much you want to understand it, and it's a constant, always there to cheer you up when you need it. And I love that about it. It's so cool.
Being at the beach – swimming, playing cricket in my bikini, or lying on a towel listening to music, whatever it be, it makes me feel truly alive. Happy, free, and peaceful.
